We are very Proud of Bob Meanley and his Brittanys. He is a very nice man who truly loves his dogs and the Brittany Breed in General! We had the privilege of Co-breeding with Bob for Dallas's First litter in 2003 and we will be Co-breeding again in 2005. We will be adding a link on this page also to share some of the pictures and Stories and Achievements of those offspring and their owners also. So watch here as the Family Grows.

Here is a Letter sent from Bob to share on this webpage:

A Brief self-introduction from Bob Meanley , Agent 99 (Dallas), and Maxwell Smart (Max)

First I'd like to thank Lori for dedicating two pages on her website to my dogs. I hope that the pictures give you a good indication of both their physical appearance and their ability to hunt. Both Dallas and Max are dual purpose Brittany's. They are Canadian Champions in the ring and have demonstrated great field potential. The credit for these accomplishments goes to the breeding and to the dogs as much as the trainers and handlers. Lori has invested a lifetime of work in establishing and refining the Jayhawker line and the results are pretty obvious.

Dallas is just over 4 years old and Max is 15 months. The time has gone by quickly. On December 22, 2003 Dallas presented us with a litter of 10 beautiful pups (out of the magnificent Jayhawker's Masked Bandit). These Jayhawker puppies went to great homes from Texas to California to British Columbia. All of the owners keep in touch with me and they are all delighted with their dogs. Some have competed in the ring, others in the field. I'm excited about our second litter that is planned for Spring 2005. This will be a Dallas X Jayhawker's Huntersheart Mtn. Jeb breeding. I have no doubt that this will be another great litter.

Aside from the ring and the field, a prospective owner should also consider the temperament of the dog to be equally important. Brittany's love exercise, so be aware that they are energetic dogs who thrive on intense activity. This doesn't mean that they are "hyper" but the genetics determine the energy level. They also crave attention and affection. This combination contributes to dogs that are easily trained and eager to please. They are also loyal, loving and trusting companions who like nothing better than to lie near you, preferably in front of a warm fire.

Brittany's respond well to a soft touch and a gentle hand. This is the essence of effective training, be it field, obedience, agility or tracking. They are competitive in all of these events given proper instruction. A heavy hand is likely ineffective, and at worst can turn the dog right off. They have a huge heart and an intense desire to please. I believe that this contributes to their (relative) ease of training. Lori's questionnaire on her Home Page is a good tool to determine if a Brittany is the dog for you.

I should add that these little dogs are robust characters who can and will work hard all day long. They are tireless in the field, and relentless in their pursuit of any type of upland game bird. They will hunt virtually any terrain and seem to have an ability to find birds where other breeds can't. In field trial terms they have very "long" noses. Brittany's are also very durable. They don't often become ill, and they aren't predisposed to any genetic problems. Vet bills are low.

I'm certainly no expert but I believe the greatest pointing dog trainer ever, Delmar Smith, was right when he said, " Don't ever look to pup to pick a pup. Look to Parents". By the way, his book "Best Way to Train Your Gun Dog" is the pointing dog owner's bible. It is still in print, ISBN 0-679-50750-7. So look at those pedigrees for the sire and the dam. What have they done and what have they won? Pick any pup from that litter and you will have a great dog.
