We got our first Brittany in 1990 after a long research. Because of the Brittanys Qualities we decided that the Brittany was the breed for our growing family. We now have 4 kids.

    We got Jayma as a hunting pet for George. But a friend suggested showing Jayma . So I ( Lori ) meet a handler after going to my first Dog Show. I gave him 1 chance and Jayma won big and I was hooked. Jayma took Best Of Winners & Best of Breed - 3 points and she continued to show well ,getting her Title in 11 days of competition with 6 Best of Breed wins, 4 Best of Opposite wins & 1 Reserve Winners. In between that she finished her Obedience CD Title in 3 day with a High Score in Class, 193 1/2 out of 200.

    We then got interested in having a litter so we registered our Kennel name and got our Tattoo combination. Our Kennel name came about a funny way. I wanted to name it after my first Brittany Jayma. I wanted Jaymark but they said I couldn't because it was to close to a Jaymar Kennel already registered. So I then looked quickly into the Dictionary and found Jayhawker. I didn't read it because I liked the name so I registered Jayhawker as my Kennel name and it was excepted. It wasn't till after that I found out that the name Jayhawker has a history. There is a School in Kansas and that in the USA Civil War there was a group of abolitionist in Kansas called Jayhawker. They were bent on putting an end to slavery. I found this out from a book my Daughter brought home called " Jayhawker" by Patricia Beatty ISBN 0-688-09850-9 . Anyway , the funny thing is that I'm not from Kansas. I did Breed to a wonderful Stud by the Name of NAC/DC/AFC Renegade's Kansas Kid before I knew about the Kennel names connection to Kansas. More about my litters below.

   Jayma ( Can.Ch. Spotted Sharptail Jayma CD ) ( 1990 - 2004 ) OFA Good was Bred 4 times. Jayma produced a 1995 DERBY DOG OF THE YEAR male pup, also 1 FD ,1 FDJ,2 CD,3 CH. My last litter out of her was the best. I sent her to NAC/DC/AFC RENEGADES KANSAS KID - OFA EXCELLENT - USA National Dual Award Winner & American Brittany Hall of Fame. 1 male pup is now INTERNATIONAL CH. / CAN.CH JAYHAWKER'S REDNECK REX T.T. with CH. & Field placing pups of his own . Another male pup is a Group Placer CH.JAYHAWKER'S OUTLAW JESSE who is now a hunting companion. I kept a female JAYHAWKER'S KIDDY HAWK FDJ - OFA EXCELLENT.

    Kiddy ( Jayhawker's Kiddy Hawk FDJ ) ( 1996 - 2000 ) OFA Excellent passed away suddenly to an accident that happened while she was away getting Bred in the USA at 4 years of age. She is missed very much !! Kiddy has produced out of her one and only litter of 12 pups, 1999 Canadian Brittany Club's National Specialty Best Puppy & 2000 Alberta Regional Specialty Best of Opposite CH.JAYHAWKER'S SHARPTAIL RANGER FDJ. Ranger will be doing the Field Tests were he has already won his Field Dog Junior Title. Kiddy also has 3 other CH. Female pups. One I own , International CH/Can.Ch.Jayhawker's Dangerous Dixie - OFA Good . She won her  International Championship Show Title with a V1 rating ( the highest rating a dog can get).She also won Reserve Winners Female at the 1999 National Specialty & Best Dam at the 2002 Can. National Specialty & Her Daughter NVee won Best Puppy and Best of Winners at that same 2002 National Specialty.  Dixie will now work on her Field & Obedience Titles. We Kept a male pup from our Dixie's litter out of USA 8xBISS CH/CAN.CH. Alar's The Rocketeer JH/Can.CD. Jeb is co-owned with Helen Rogers in the USA. Jeb won his Canadian Title before he was 7 months old and is now in the USA for awhile were he has won his American Title with a 3 point  & 4 point Majors at his USA Shows winning Best Male & Best of Winners. Jeb also has Field Trial placements in the USA too so far. I'm hoping we are looking at one of our first Am/Can. Dual in him. Also Won a 1st placement in his Class at the USA National Specialty Sweepstakes Nov 30 2002.

  Dixie   Int'l Ch. / Can.Ch. Jayhawker's Dangerous Dixie ( 1998 - Retired ) OFA Good / CERF Certified,  proved to be a wonderful asset to the Breed but now retired. She has produce another wonder son who lives in Oregon. AM BISS / AM.CH./CAN.CH Jayhawker's Masked Bandit. Bandit was sired by AM BISS / DC / AFC Masked Shoshoni War Chief in Iowa. Bandit went to the Field Trials in the fall 2003 and won some placements but now he will be trying hard in 2004 to see if he can get his Field Title to make him a Dual Champion!

Mtn. Jeb  A Dixie Son at Stud - Am.Ch./Can.Ch. Jayhawker Huntersheart Mtn. Jeb FDJ. ( 2001 -  ) OFA Good / CERF Certified,  #2 Top Show Brittany in the Canadian Show Dog standings . Out of USA BISS / AM.CH./CAN.CH Alar's The Rocketeer JH. CD. OFA Good . Jeb is a Multi Group winner and Field Trial placements.

Smokin Bandit - OFA Good / CERF Certified , Co-owned with Bob Pegg of BC , Dixie has also produce a wonderful young boy out of Can. AFTCH / FTCH / CH. Kinwashkly Smoking Hank FD, FDX. OFA Excellent. His Name is BPIS CAN.CH. Jayhawker's Smokin Bandit FDJ ( 2002 -  ) ( with 2 points on his Field Title ). This Bandit won alot in his first year of life. On top of all so far he made  Calgary Pointing Dog Club - 2003 Top JR. Dog Of The Year, #1 Brittany in Canada for 2003 Open Puppy Field Trial & # 2 Brittany - Derby in the Top Pointing Dog Standings . 

 Kiddy2  Can.NBPIS Ch. Shelttany's Kiddy Hawker ( 2004 -  ) OFA Good / CERF Certified ( Named after her Grandma Jayhawker's Kiddy Hawk FDJ) She is a daughter to NBPIS Can.Ch. Jayhawker's Sharptail Ranger FDJ. She won 2005 Canadian National Specialty Best Puppy at her first Show , plus 3 points . Then we decided to focus on her field work before we would continue showing so we could take in the Puppy and Derby Trials and try for her FDJ title also. So far at her first Field Trial she placed 4th in Open Puppy ( 10 dogs ran ).  She has 2 passes on her Field Dog Junior Title.  We look forward to her Dual future
