What does the Perm.Reg'd mean behind the Jayhawker Kennel Name , you might wonder ? We have qualified and been excepted to have our Registered Kennel Name become Permanent Registered . We have fulfilled the requirements which are: a) a Registered Member of the CKC for more then 10 years, b) have been breeding for more then 10 years, c) NEVER been Subjected to disciplinary action by the Canadian Kennel Club d) Our Registered Kennel Name on not less then 5 Champion Jayhawker dogs that we have bred. Also the link above lists the Disorders known in Brittanys and info about OFA and CERF certifications that should be done by Quality Breeders! *** If a Breeder DOES NOT do the Health Tests Required for our Breed then Worry about them caring more for their Profits then the Quality of the Health of their line of Brittanys!!! So Important!
***Be aware Also of incest In-Bred litters!! An In-Bred litter is not a Close Line-breeding! An In-Bred litter is Mother to Son , Father to Daughter and Brother to Sister. Be worried of possible increased Risk of Genetic Problems if you get a pup from an In-Bred litter. Breeding that closely related animals increases the possibility that any bad genes in a line will show up. Big worry. The Breeder should be well Versed in the Study of Genetics and what Genetic problems might be lurking in the pedigree before even thinking of doing an In-Breeding.

Jayhawker Tucker To The Rescue - is Learning Search and Rescue and will one day Save Human lives. Breeders who care strive for this Dual purpose ( Show / Field ) helps to keep our breed from separating , like what has happened to so many breeds. We Believe that a Good Ethical Breeder, should live up to the Breed Standard and prove it ! Ask to see the Titles on the Breeding Pairs of any Breeder! Field Titles are also important but take longer to get. Some Titles you should be looking for are CH., FC., FTCH, INT'L CH. , AFC, NFC, NAFC, AFTCH all in front of the name. Behind the Name , FDJ , FD , FDX , JH , SH , MH , CD , CDX , CGN ( Plus Agility Titles )
We also are working on a PICTURE STANDARD so you can see what is correct and incorrect . Take a look at that page! See if the breeders dogs are good examples of the Brittany . Remember that there is no Perfect dog but a Brittany Breeder should be trying for perfection.
