Air Canada to Ban all Pets from Cabin

The Canadian Kennel Club has confirmed the following change in Air Canada’s pet travel regulations regarding pets in the cabin:

As of September 18, 2006, all pets (except certified, professionally trained service animals which are assisting persons with disabilities) will be banned from its passenger cabins on all flights world-wide. As a result, pets will only be allowed to travel in the cargo hold section of the baggage compartment. For more information, please click on the following link:

If your using another Airline then Please check with them long in advance about their policies.

Shipping information:

I prefer that my owners come to me by car or plane and the puppy can go at 8 weeks old (but I know that sometimes this is not possible.) If you come to me by plane then you may be able to take the pup back as carry on luggage at your seat. Check with your Airlines! But if we have to fly the pup by itself then you need to find a flight that has a heated cargo or a Special Area for Live Animals and they go at 10 weeks.

My owners DO have to pay the transportation costs though. I live close to the Calgary Airport so will not charge for my Mileage to take the pup to the Airport. I do charge for the International Flight letter and extra exam from my Vet for those who have to fly. That extra cost is for Cargo flight puppies only and is about $45.00.

Example only:

This was the cost to Ship a 10 week old pup from Calgary Alberta Canada to Hartford Conn. USA As of May 10th 2004

Gross Weight ( Kennel and Dog ) : 8.5 K up to 28.5 in a 19 x 20 x 27 inch Kennel

Flight: $158.00 Can. Plus $24.61 Flight Taxes (it includes navigational surcharge, charge by weight and security charge).= $182.61

Cost of Kennel : $55.00 - $80.00 depending on the Model

You might be able to save a bit can by sending me your own Airline approved puppy Kennel,  if you already own one ,  by Fed -Ex - 2 weeks before Shipping with your signed Contract and Guarantee and final Moneyorder or Certified Check payment.

Heated cabins are available on some flights not others so check on that.  In the colder Months like December, we wouldn't want to ship a pup unless the cabin is heated.

If you fly out to me and take your pup back as carry on luggage they can go at 8 weeks old . You will need a crate that is small enough to fit under the Airplane seat. Some of my pups have used a Sherpa Bag ,Small: 16" L x 10" W x 9.5" H

Pups do very well as carry on Luggage and the people on the plane just love them. The cost is cheaper as luggage but then you got your own ticket price also to consider.

Then they are registered AKC.

 Border Crossing:

There is no worries about border crossings. We just send a Vet.'s  Certificate that the pup is up to date on Shots and if flying we send a Vet. certificate stating that the pup is healthy and is Climatized for the flight. Nothing else is needed.
